Chaucer School Visit to Parliament

Chaucer School Visit to Parliament

Jonathan, our Youth Development Worker, had the privilege of taking a group of Students from a local Secondary School in Sheffield to Parliament this week. Thanks to the wider YMCA Movement, what was going to be a day visit was able to be a overnight residential thanks to the generosity of the German YMCA in London, who were able to provide free accommodation in their Hostel in Central London.

Students left Sheffield early on Monday morning, arriving at the accommodation shortly after lunch. We had a walk through Kensington Gardens to the National History Museum, before heading back to the hotel for Pizza. We then caught the tube to Oxford Street to see the Christmas Lights and some of the shops before walking back to the hotel.

We were up early on Tuesday for breakfast and the tube to Parliament – where we had a tour of both the Lords and Commons. The tour finished in time for students to observe the 11am silence for Remembrance Day.

We would like to thank the German YMCA for their generous hospitality.
