International Romani Day, also known as International Roma Day, takes place on 8 April every year. It was first declared in 1990.
It is an opportunity to celebrate Romani culture and raise awareness of the issues facing Roma people.
Every year young people at Myplace celebrate International Roma Day and this year Roma culture and heritage was celebrated during the Thursday Senior Youth Club and Saturday Chat & Chill sessions.
Young people enjoyed food and drink from across Europe and Asia, danced to their favourite music and played traditional tunes on the piano, Cajon and guitar.
The Roma flag was on display in the youth space and a display board was created, showing images of celebrities from a Roma background, as well as the differences in traditions from across Europe.
